The moon goes across the sky chasing the sun. But it can never quite catch it,
for you see, the sun only comes out during the day for some reason.

it starts early in the morning, (no one has ever figured out how it knows it's morning,
for it has no arms for a watch but it does), the sun runs across the sky,
but then about noon it starts to get tired.

So that it can’t climb anymore and it starts to sink and if you ever watch it sinks
into the ocean.

This makes the ocean very mad for when the sun hits it, it gets steamed!

If the sun was just smart enough to fall back the same way that it came, it could
start earlier the next morning. But it never learns.

Now, the moon wants to marry the sun, she's always loved that he's so bright!

He's the brightest thing she knows. Of course, the moon doesn't get out much and
when she does she only sees the Night Mares going about their business.

she does like the Mares, though, for they are named after parts of her, or parts of her
may be named after them... no one is really sure, but it works out.
So the moon goes on chasing the sun day after day, never quite catching him.
And this makes her sadder and sadder.

She just pines away, getting smaller and smaller, until you can't see her at all.

She's still there, though, she's just hiding her face. Now, the sun knows that
she is back there but like most males, he's afraid to comment.

But it does make him very sad to hurt her feelings. So he turns his face full on her.
She's so happy to know that he sees her. She lights up, full and big as ever.

Now though out the ages people have forgotten the true story of the sun and the moon.

It's a story that played out in the heavens every month to remind us that love
true love, will always last

and come back to us. For you see the moon has no light of her own.
The light that she beams on her comes from the sun, a gift of his love.

So now-a-days, when the moon is full people go a little crazy.... with joy,
for while they may not know why in their minds. Somewhere deep in their hearts.
They remember, remember to never give up

For love is on the horizon.
